Autumn Walks: A Simple
Boost for Your Health
Boost for Your Health
Hello! I’m Chloe, a personal trainer and owner of CW-Fitness in St Neots. I’ve spent over 10 years helping people of all ages and abilities build strength, improve their fitness and move with confidence. I’ll be sharing simple, practical tips to help you stay active, healthy and feel your best throughout the year.
November is a wonderful time to get outside and walk. Crisp mornings, colourful trees, crunchy leaves underfoot and that cosy feeling of coming home to warm up afterwards. And you don’t need to rack up 10,000 steps to make it worthwhile. Even a short brisk walk gets your heart and lungs working, supports cardiovascular health and adds valuable activity to your day.
The benefits go beyond the walk itself too. Natural daylight, particularly in the morning, helps regulate your body clock, which plays an important role in sleep and daytime alertness – especially useful as the days get shorter.

If you’re unable to get out during the day, try a walk after dinner instead. Walking after a meal can help your body manage the rise in blood sugar that follows eating and can be a lovely way to wind down after a long day.
We’re lucky to have some great places to walk locally, including Riverside Park and Paxton Pits. If you find it easier to get moving with some company, arrange a walk with a friend to help keep you accountable or join one of our local social walking groups.
My November challenge: make the most of the daylight and add one extra walk to your week, or choose another way to get outside and move that works for you. Aim for 30 minutes if that feels manageable, or start with 10 minutes and gradually build from there.
