The Armour Project
Hey, have you heard about the Armour Project? It’s a safety net for 16 to 25-year-olds who self-harm through the lens of a tattoo studio.
What?
Less formally, at Pennyroyal, we aim to be a safe, non-judgmental space for those who self-harm. A place where you can talk about what you’re doing (or not, that’s totally up to you) and if you’re ready, signpost you to professionals who are trained to help. Whether that’s just a chat or you’re in crisis.
Why?
You might be thinking why we’re talking about this? We kinda have to because we see self-harm in all its forms in the studio and we have to have a conversation about how it affects your tattoo and piercing.
That’s why we created the Armour Project because we realised how important it was to give you the space to open up. We’re not the experts but we are mental health first aiders, giving you the armour to help yourself if you want it?
Are we going to tell you to stop?
If only it were that easy! We’re not telling you what to do, we just don’t want you to be alone, and probably like you, we don’t want to see you hurting. We can give you coping strategies and guidance though, and most of all, we can just listen.
