I’ve been writing children’s books for a few years now which started in our garden. Illustrated by my children my first book came together after I decided to capture a moment in their lives writing a story about our adventures in our garden and the secret land that we found. A Secret Land in Your Garden was born and published.
I loved the process and so was keen to start another project and with 3 children inspiration was not far away. Pink Flamingos are very popular in my house and that mixed with the fact I have always wanted to create a superhero for children, a superhero that they could not just pretend to be but that they could actually become!

Flamingoboy was born out of my determination to prove to children that any difference they may have or anything that makes them stand out from the crowd is not something to be worried about. Their difference IS their superpower. Kindness IS a superpower. I want children to be proud of who they are and to dare to be themselves. No matter what. Just be you.

Flamingoboy shows that to an entire school despite some children initially pointing at him and laughing at him for being different. He shows them that children need love to grow. He shows them how powerful imagination is and takes them on an adventure they will never forget!
My children love the book knowing that they inspired it. I found an amazing illustrator who brought all my ideas to life with stunning vibrant illustrations. The message within the book is so important for children right now. I want this message to get out to all the children of the world and really prove that kindness is a superpower!
