Separated family and mistaken identity – It’s The Comedy of Errors at Buckden Towers

After a sell-out production of Twelfth Night in 2026, Shakespeare at the Towers returns to Buckden Towers this summer with 12 performances of The Comedy of Errors. The play is described by Director James Barwise as “the most ‘Shakespeare’ of the Shakespeare comedies because it’s got two sets of identical twins rather than just one. Which means double the hilarity, double the silliness and double the wholesomeness when everyone gets reunited.”

Arrive early, enjoy the fantastic selection of food and drinks available from the Buckden Towers team, wander around the grounds and soak up the atmosphere before taking your reserved seat in the tiered stand to watch the plot unfold, with the perfect backdrop of the Knot Garden.

The Comedy of Errors is sponsored by Wintringham and runs at Buckden Towers from 23rd June – 4th July (no performance Sunday 28th June), including a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 27th June.

Shakespeare at the Towers is a Charitable Trust that distributes grants and bursaries to local groups and individuals to promote theatre and theatre skills. The Trust is also dedicated to making theatre more accessible and offers:

a) A Touch Tour before the Monday 29th June performance – giving those who have lost their sight, or are partially sighted an opportunity to discover the set, costumes and props, bringing the production to life through touch

b) A captioned performance on Tuesday 30th June, kindly sponsored by The Evelyn Glennie Foundation and Huntingdonshire History Festival. This enables patrons who have lost, or are losing their hearing, to follow the text on an LED screen above the stage

c) Wheelchair spaces for every performance are sold with a carer’s seat provided free of charge
