Connection with Others Sparks Connection Within
As Mental Health Awareness Week reminded us recently, community has the power to support us, uplift us and connect us. The week itself may have passed, but its message is still relevant and always will be, because the need for connection and belonging is an integral part of being human.
When we feel part of something greater than ourselves our nervous system responds, we feel safer and calmer.
Here in St Neots, we are so fortunate! Our community is a hive of opportunity for connection, belonging and support: from Parkrun’s, to Walk and Talks, St Neots man cave and the inspiring Citizens Hub.
Peppered with green spaces and parks with multiple sports on offer, an array of wellness providers, an assortment of dancing, singing or acting schools, day centres and drink n draw evenings.

There is something for everyone to get involved in!
Whether that’s playing catch with a tyre with Abi in priory park or a quiet cup of chai with a friend in one of the warm and wonderful eateries, opportunities for connection are buzzing throughout our community.
Let’s not underestimate the power of reaching out and then the hard part showing up, for ourselves and for each other.
When we make time to connect, something softens within, we remember we are not alone and a sense of belonging takes root, blossoming into acceptance of ourselves and those around us.
A Moment to Reflect
- What local group captures your interest? Or activity have you always wanted to try?
- Maybe give the gift of a smile, or a compliment to a stranger in passing…
Reach out, connect and notice how it makes you feel…
